Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Wednesday informed that the state cabinet has passed a resolution urging the Centre to grant special category status to Bihar.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday demanded special status for Bihar state so that it can move forward and also appealed to the Centre to conduct a caste-based census across the country.
Following the release of the caste survey report by the Bihar government, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav expressed his support for it and called on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to set aside politics and conduct a nationwide caste census.
Earlier today, the Bihar government released caste survey data, with the figures that have ramifications for the Lok Sabha polls next year, showing that Other Backward Caste (OBC) and Extremely Backward Class (EBC) together account for 63 per cent of the state’s population.
