After the announcement of the first list of NCP candidates, Maharashtra State President of the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar faction) leader Jayant Patil on Thursday exuded confidence in the victory of Ajit Pawar's nephew Yugendra Pawar against him in the Baramati constituency.
Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala, who is party's in-charge for Maharashtra, has said that seat-sharing meetings for assembly polls were being held between Maha Vikas Aghadi constituents and an announcement is expected to be made soon.
Pawar emphasized that the journey to rebuild a progressive and developed Maharashtra will start from Islampur in Sangli and Jayant Patil should take the responsibility on his shoulder and the party and all his colleague will back him.
Patil quit the BJP on Friday after a meeting with his supporters and announced that he would join the NCP (SP) on Monday. He joined the party at a programme, in presence of Sharad Pawar and other leaders, including Supriya Sule and Jayant Patil on Monday.
"Ajit Pawar is not the same anymore, I don't know if his nature has changed or not but he has hired consultants for what to say in his speeches in front of the media, they have been given the responsibility by spending a lot of money," NCP-SCP leader Jayant Patil said.
