The GMR Group, co-owner of the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, is reportedly in advanced talks to relaunch the Jamaica Tallawahs franchise in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
The founder and president of Worldwide Sports Management Group, Krishna Persaud announced in an event at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Tuesday that Antigua & Barbuda Falcons has replaced Jamaica Tallawahs ahead of the 2024 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
It was the third title win for Jamaica Tallawahs, who also won the Hero CPL in 2013 and 2016. They won each time they entered the final. Barbados, champions in 2014 and 2019, have now lost two finals - in 2015 to Trinidad and Tobago and in 2022 to Jamaica Tallawahs.
Jamaica Tallawahs will meet Barbados Royals in the final of Caribbean Premier League. Tallawahs will now contest their third CPL final. They have earlier won in 2013 and 2016. Barbados are also looking for their third win, having won in 2014 and 2019. Barbados have also lost a final in 2015.
Guyana Amazon Warriors secured their place in the 2022 Caribbean Premier League play-offs. Three teams, St Lucia Kings, Jamaica Tallawahs and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have eight points each, but St Lucia and Tallawahs have one match each left. The Patriots have eight points.
