External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday emphasised that India-Japan ties will both draw strength from our larger activities together, especially from the Quad.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Akie Abe, the wife of the late Japanese Prime Minister and handed over a personal letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, conveying his condolences on the recent passing away of Yoko Abe, mother of the late PM.
The statement came after EAM Jaishankar and his Japanese counterpart, Yoko Kamikawa, co-chaired the 16th India-Japan Foreign Ministers Strategic Dialogue in Tokyo.
The remarks of Jaishankar came after the 16th India-Japan Foreign Ministers Strategic Dialogue. It covered diverse aspects of bilateral relations and set the stage for discussions on major regional and global issues in the remaining sessions.
The year 2023, according to Jaishankar, has been a "landmark" in India-Japan bilateral relations, witnessing "government-to-government, business-to-business, and people-to-people exchanges thrive across various sectors".
"Our own experience in the case of China...is between 1975 and 2020, which is really 45 years, there was no bloodshed on the border. In 2020, it changed," Jaishankar said.
They include the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) initiative through the Arabian peninsula and the international north-south transport corridor and towards east the trilateral highway in southeast Asia and the Chennai Vladivostok route, which also has polar implications..
Hailing India's growth story, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Thursday that it is important that Japan today appreciate the pace of change in India.
Lauding the ties between India and Japan, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that both countries enjoy a special strategic and global partnership with the intent to meet the challenges facing the global order.
