Pro-Khalistan protestors staged a protest outside the venue where External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar participated in a discussion held by Chatham House on Wednesday (UK local time).
He noted that over the past 40 years, the assumption has been that peace and tranquillity in the border areas are essential for the relationship to grow. "If the border is unstable, not peaceful, or not tranquil, it will inevitably affect the growth and direction of our relationship."
"Holding elections, which were done with a very high turnout, was step number three. I think the part we are waiting for is the return of the stolen part of Kashmir, which is on the illegal Pakistani occupation. When that's done, I assure you, Kashmir solved," Jaishankar added.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Wednesday visited Chevening House, a country house in Kent, England that serves as the official residence of the British Foreign Secretary.
The India-UK partnership is set to strengthen significantly as External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visits the United Kingdom to reinforce the growing GBP 41 billion trading relationship between the two nations.
"Great to meet Chevening Scholars from India along with FS @DavidLammy this evening. A vivid expression of our talent and people-to-people exchanges, they surely are great advocates of India-UK ties", the EAM wrote on X.
EAM Jaishankar is on an official visit to the United Kingdom and Ireland until March 9, during which he will hold discussions to provide renewed impetus to India's friendly ties with the UK and Ireland.
In a post on X, the EAM said, "Congratulations to @BMeinl on her appointment as the Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of Austria. We will work together to further advance our long-standing partnership."
