Underscoring the importance of India's G20 presidency, the External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar on Thursday said that India has a middle-ground to bring different parties to the table.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday highlighted a sea change in geopolitics and said that India's G-20 presidency comes at "a very challenging time in world politics and at an inflexion point."
Speaking at the University Connect Programme at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in New Delhi, Jaishankar said there are very good reasons why today's world is taking a much deeper interest in India.
This event saw the virtual participation of students and leading academicians from 75 universities across the country with top leaders, scholars, and academicians. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will be attending with students and vice-chancellors.
India will formally assume the G20 presidency starting today, thereby beginning a unique opportunity for the country to contribute to the global agenda on pressing issues of international importance. India also assumes the monthly rotating Presidency of the UNSC from today.
Maldives on Tuesday expressed gratitude and thanked India for the financial assistance of USD 100 Million to overcome economic challenges and said that it is the good friendship between the two countries which is reaping benefits.

Jaishankar made these remarks during the annual flagship event co-hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs and Carnegie India. The theme for this year's Summit is Geopolitics of Technology.
