Crediting the efforts made by Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi and other activists and organisations, Ramesh pointed out that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) opposes every "good" policy and adopts it when met with public pressure.
"As the PM dedicates Vizhinjam Port to the nation today, my mind goes back to June 13, 2011 when the-then CM of Kerala Oommen Chandy and the Thiruvananthapuram MP Dr Shashi Tharoor invited me to visit the site to set the ball rolling," Ramesh posted on X.

Union Minister and West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar on Wednesday welcomed the inclusion of caste-based data in the national census, stating that it would help shape government policies aimed at uplifting the downtrodden.
The Congress National President further emphasized that in the absence of caste census, the implementation of meaningful social justice and empowerment programmes is incomplete.
Briefing the media about the decisions taken by the Union Cabinet, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that some states have done caste surveys and conducting a census is in the domain of the central government.
