Israel is set to swelter under one of its most intense heatwaves in decades, with forecasters warning of exceptional and possibly historic temperatures early this week.
The Israel Meteorological Service forecasts the heat wave lasting at least until Sunday, with the highest temperatures reaching 46°C (115°F) in the Jordan Valley.
Extreme rain events, particularly those that cause flash floods in the south and east of Israel in spring and fall are particularly difficult to forecast even a short while in advance.
