While the Israel Defence Forces is gaining ground against Hamas by the day, destroying it as a military force will take time, according to former IDF officers.
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) on Sunday released footage of a tunnel in southern Gaza, where Hamas was allegedly holding around 20 hostages at different times, CNN reported.
He asserted in a post on X, "The refusal to accept the two-state solution for Israelis and Palestinians and the denial of the right to statehood for the Palestinian people are unacceptable."
The facilities, located along the Salah al-Din Road, consist of weapons factories above and below ground, where rockets, weapons and ammunition were produced. The sites were connected by dozens of tunnel shafts.
The IDF has also eliminated two out of Hamas's five brigade-level commanders, the army announced. In addition, 19 battalion-level commanders and 50 company commanders were killed.

Without fanfare, the Israel Defense Forces is transitioning from phase 2 in the war against Hamas--the high-intensity stage of surging ground forces throughout Gaza--to phase 3, involving far more targeted operations, with a focus on the south of the strip.
Members of the team selected by IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Herzi Halevi include former chief of staff Shaul Mofaz, former Military Intelligence Directorate head Aharon Ze'evi-Farkash, former Southern Command leader Sami Turgeman and former Operations Directorate chief Yoav Har-Even.
