At least two Iranian border guards and one Taliban security force have been killed after clashes between Taliban and Iranian forces at the border crossing point, according to a Taliban spokesperson and Iranian state media on Saturday, Afghanistan-based Khaama Press reported.
The border-clash incident, which also resulted in several injuries, occurred amid tensions between the two countries over water rights, although the exact cause was not immediately known.
Over the past few months, the law and order situation in the country has worsened, with terrorist groups executing attacks with near impunity across the country, reported Dawn.
An Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release said: "On April 1, 2023, a group of terrorists operating from the Iranian side attacked a routine border patrol of Pakistani security forces operating along the Pakistan-Iran Border in Jalgai Sector, District Kech."
A statement by the ISPR said that four security personnel have been killed in terrorist activity from across the Pakistan-Iran border in the Chukab sector.
