Speaking to ANI, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Outer Sachin Sharma stated that two days ago, the same group was involved in a hot chase during which they opened fire on the police party. The officers retaliated, but the accused managed to escape at that time.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Sachin Sharma, "A brief exchange of fire took place between Delhi Police and criminals in the Nangloi area, in which three criminals were injured."
According to officials, the encounter took place when a police team tried to intercept Koku Pahadia following specific inputs about his movement. The accused opened fire on the team in an attempt to escape, prompting the police to retaliate.
Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy confirmed that 19 people lost their lives in the Kurnool bus tragedy. He said that the state government has announced Rs 5 lakhs each to the kin of the deceased and Rs 2 lakhs each to the injured.
Speaking to the media, CM Saha said that around 10 to 12 people were injured in separate incidents and assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible.
"Upon the instructions of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the Telangana government will provide an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakhs to the families of the deceased and Rs 2 lakhs to those injured in the Kurnool bus accident," Goud said in a statement.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, offered condolences to the families of the deceased, wished the injured a speedy recovery, and called for accountability to prevent such incidents.
According to a statement issued by the Andhra Pradesh Raj Bhavan, Governor Nazeer has directed the district authorities to provide necessary medical care to the injured passengers. The Governor offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
