At least seven people died and seven were critically injured in a blast incident at a firecracker factory incident in West Bengal's Purba Medinipur on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in Tapariyan village under Bijawar police station limits in the district on Monday night. Soon after the incident, the injured woman was immediately admitted to the district hospital. Now, the health condition of the woman is said to be out of danger.
"The incident happened at 10:50 pm last night (May 15). Dr Irfan Khan, the house surgeon, was attacked. Doyal had come to the medical college for treatment after being injured in the accident," P R Santhosh, Circle Inspector of Police said.
A group of medical students on Monday staged a protest against the alleged 'attack' outside the college's administrative block on Monday, and demanded action.
"Three people including a mother-daughter duo and son-in-law were electrocuted early morning of May 14. The mother-daughter, Khairul Nessa and Muhata Begum died while one was injured," police said.
