The protestors were demanding that recruitment should be made to the posts of rural agriculture extension officer and equivalent posts in the agriculture department. They reached the collectorate office half-naked with placards in their hands in the form of a rally.
"Three people were injured after a part of the balcony, of the Kalyan Rest House building, collapsed. They have been taken to the hospital for treatment. At present their condition is stable," Indore Collector Ilayyaraja T told ANI.
"Total of 35 people died, one missing and 14 people have been rescued. Two people returned home safely after getting treatment. The search operation to trace persons reported missing is underway," Indore Collector said.
The incident occurred at Beleshwar Jhulelal Mahadev Temple located in Patel Nagar locality in the city at around 11 in the morning during a Havan puja going on in view of the Ram Navami festival.
The whole city has been decorated for the event. Kite festival will also be organised on the occasion. Besides, arrangements have also been made for those guests who wish to visit nearby philosophical and religious places.
