Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Darakhshan Andrabi on Friday expressed confidence in the Centre's efforts to evacuate students from Iran, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's priority to ensure no child is left behind in conflict zones.
"I'm grateful for his assurance that all steps will be taken to safeguard the interests & lives of students & other people from J&K who are in Iran now," he stated.
"It's good that EAM Dr S Jaishankar spoke with his counterpart in Iran, but my urgent request to the GoI and EAM is that there are many students in hundreds who are studying in Iran, and especially in this Shahid Beheshti University," Owaisi told ANI.

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday urged External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to urgently intervene for the evacuation of an Indian student stranded in Tehran, Iran.
Sharing details in a post on X, the Embassy said, "In a tragic accident in Oskemen, a group of 11 Indian students from Semey Medical University, who were on an excursion trip to the Altai Mountains (East Kazakhstan), encountered an accident on their way back to Oskemen City."
Dr Mohammad Momin Khan, Vice President of AIMSA and FAIMA Doctors Association, said that both organisations have received updates from Indian students across Iran confirming their safety amid the prevailing situation.
In a letter addressed to Jaishankar, Mohammad Momin Khan, Vice President of the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the All India Medical Students Association, expressed concern over the safety of Indian students amid a rapidly deteriorating security situation.
National Convenor of JKSA, Nasir Khuehami, stated that nearly 2,000 Kashmiri students are presently enrolled in medical universities across different provinces of Iran.
