A special flight from Iran carrying 290 Indians, including students and religious pilgrims, landed at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport late Friday night, as part of Operation Sindhu, India's ongoing mission to evacuate citizens amid the escalating Israel-Iran conflict.
Under Operation Sindhu, two evacuation flights carrying Indian nationals from Mashhad, Iran, and Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, will land in Delhi at 11:30 PM and 3:00 AM on June 20, 2025, amid the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict.
Speaking to reporters, Joshi said, "215 DNA samples have been matched, of which the mortal remains of 198 deceased have been handed over to their families...Of the 198 deceased, 149 are Indian nationals, seven Portuguese, 32 British and one Canadian."
