India continued their dominance against the West Indies to further increase their lead as the team with the most consecutive bilateral ODI series wins.
The outstanding opening partnership of 143 runs between Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill guided India to set a massive target of 351/5 against WI at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba on Wednesday.
West Indies lost the third ODI match and the series decider against India by a huge margin of 200 runs. India sealed the series by 2-1 at Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba.
Shubman said, "Very special for me, I was looking for a big score but unfortunately that didn't happen and I'm happy that we ended up on the winning side. It was a good (the pitch), initially the ball was coming on nicely and as the ball got older it became tough to hit."
In the post-match presentation, Pandya said, "It’s a special win. To be honest, I look forward to these kind of games as a captain where there is something on the line. This was more than an international game. We knew what was at stake and there would be a lot of disappointment if we lost.
Mukesh took three wickets conceding 30 runs while Thakur picked up four wickets for 37 runs. Kuldeep Yadav also cleared up two scalps and Jaydev Unadkat got one wicket.
Samson said after the first innings, "It feels really great to spend some time in the middle, score some runs and contribute for your country. I had different plans for different players, I wanted to use my feet and dominate the lengths of the bowlers."
West Indies captain Shai Hope won the toss and opted to field against India in the third and final ODI of the three-match series here at Brian Lara Stadium on Tuesday.
After WI clinched the second one-day game by 6 wickets to level the series to 1-1, India will play the final match of the three-match series at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba on Tuesday.
India won opening game but West Indies restored parity in the following match-up with a six-wicket win. India rested skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the previous match and former India cricketer Aakash Chopra feels they should continue experimenting if the management thinks that’s th
