India and Maldives co-chaired the second Joint Working Group meeting on Counter-Terrorism, Countering Violent Extremism and De-radicalisation on Monday to combat terrorism and prevent the exploitation of the internet and cyberspace for terrorism and violent extremism.
“Maldives is not a battleground for anyone. Maldives is a ground for everyone to come together. The premises where we start is that we are friend to all and enemy to none,” Abdulla Shahid said.
Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid spoke at length about climate change on Tuesday and said that everyone wants the small island states to be part of the debate on climate change.
Calling India an immediate next-door neighbour on Tuesday, Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid said that the island nation has a special relationship with India.

During his visit, Abdullah Shahid will meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for discussions on bilateral, regional & international issues of mutual interest.
Taking to Twitter, the Additional Directorate General of Public Information of the Indian Army said, "The exercise has strengthened mutual confidence & enabled sharing of best practices."
Indian Navy divers and Marine Commandos are in the Maldives for the sixth edition of Exercise Ekatha with Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) from 4th June to 3rd July. The annual exercise is conducted between the two forces to enhance interoperability in diving and special operations.
Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan on Sunday called on the President of Maldives Ibrahim Solih in Male and exchanged views on strengthening the bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
"Witnessed gifting of a consignment of Anti-TB medicine to Maldives @MoHmv, in Male Confident that the medicine will contribute to @governmentmv plan to eliminate TB from Maldives," the MoS tweeted.
V Muraleedharan said that MoUs will facilitate the implementation of development projects in areas like arts, sports, education and health under India's grant assistance.
