Earlier in June, PM Modi visited Egypt at the invitation of the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. On his arrival in Cairo, the Prime Minister was received by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and was accorded a ceremonial welcome.

In a significant move towards fostering global defence cooperation, an Indian Air Force (IAF) contingent reached the Egyptian Air Force Base to participate in Exercise BRIGHT STAR-23 on Monday.

On Prime Minister Narendra Modi being conferred with the highest State Honour of Egypt, Former Indian Diplomat KP Fabian said that as PM Modi has gone there and given the honour, it means that both the nations are looking forward to strengthening the bilateral ties with each other.
