Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday held detailed discussions with Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) officials on their role in the border districts of Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti and issues concerning security along the India-China border.
He asked the government whether the de-escalation, de-mobilisation and dismantling of infrastructure created by China on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) have been done to India's satisfaction levels.
In conversation with Kyung-wha Kang of Asia Society on Wednesday, Jaishankar said that India and China are trying to undo some of the damage that happened due to the actions in 2020 and rebuild bilateral ties.
During the meeting, the officials of the two nations reviewed the situation along the Line of Actual Control in the India-China border areas and agreed on the early resumption of cross-border cooperation and exchanges, including on trans-border rivers and Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra.
In reply to a question by ANI, Trump addressed ongoing global conflicts, including the India-China border tensions and the war in Ukraine, emphasizing the need for de-escalation.
National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval on Wednesday highlighted India-China border issues and stated that New Delhi is willing to maintain fruitful communication with Beijing in a pragmatic manner adding that the nation aims to continuously accumulate conditions for "final resolution."
During the meeting, the two Special Representatives will discuss the management of peace and tranquility in the border areas and explore a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable solution to the boundary question, according to Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) press release.
Jaishankar said that the understanding envisages that Indian security forces would be going to all the patrolling points in Depsang and would be going to the eastward limit which has India's patrolling limit in that part.
