The Ministry of External Affairs' (MEA) Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on Thursday welcomed Afghanistan's Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi upon his arrival in India.
Following the United Nations Security Council's approval for Afghanistan's Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi to visit India, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the Ministry of External Affairs will continue to share updates regarding the visit.

India has airlifted 21 tonnes of earthquake relief materials to Kabul, including blankets, tents, medicines, and water purifiers, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said. He added that India will continue monitoring the situation and send more humanitarian aid in the coming days.
Following a series of earthquakes that struck eastern Afghanistan, killing over 800 people and injuring over 2800, India has extended urgent humanitarian assistance to support relief efforts in the region.
Afghanistan traders, who attended Iran Expo 2025, expressed interest in boosting trade between Afghanistan and India, adding that they also urged governments to make facilities for businessmen of both countries.
Indian Special Envoy Anand Prakash met IEA Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in Kabul to discuss strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing trade and transit cooperation, facilitating visa processes, and resuming investment initiatives in Afghanistan.
Referring to Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri's recent meeting with Acting Afghan Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted that this was the "highest level of engagement" between the two nations.
India agreed to promote trade and commerce, including through Chabahar port. It will also extend its support to the health sector and rehabilitation of refugees in the country.
"In India, we have a historical relationship with the people of Afghanistan. And this people-to-people connection is actually a foundation for our ties," Jaishankar said.
