Earlier, Kuwait's ambassador to India Meshal Mustafa J Alshemali expressed his condolences and sympathy to the victims of the fire incident, which led to the loss of at least 49 lives.
Indian ambassador to Italy, Vani Rao said that the incident of vandalism to Mahatma Gandhi's bust occurred in Brindisi, a town in southern Italy, adding that the local Italian authorities have since taken action to clean up the bust.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with the team of the Ministry of External Affairs and other officials concerned on Wednesday evening regarding the tragic fire incident in Kuwait, in which over 40 people were killed and more than 30 Indian workers were injured.
"The type of incident that has happened has certainly caused concern and anger among the people... As Prime Minister Modi has said that there is 'zero tolerance towards terrorism', further action will be decided following the same principle," he said.
In response to a question about repeated terrorist incidents in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and other areas, Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra said that terrorism, especially cross-border terrorism, poses significant challenges to peace and stability in the region.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday expressed his shock and grief over "the horrific news of the death of more than 40 Indians in a fire in Kuwait City", saying the condition of "our workers in the Middle East is a serious matter of concern"
Following the fire mishap in Kuwait which took away over 40 lives leaving over 50 injured, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said that it was "truly tragic" and hoped that the Kuwait government takes action against those responsible.
