Speaking to reporters, Fire Officer Narender Kumar said, "We received report of shops on fire. We immediately dispatched two vehicles. All fire stations have been put on standby and vehicles have been called in."
The West Agartala Police Station on Monday handed over 30 recovered mobile phones to their rightful owners. The devices had been stolen in various incidents registered over the past few months.
Chief Fire Officer Bhubaneswar, Ramesh Chandra Majhi, said all the arrangements have been made to tackle any incident during the wee hours of the Diwali. Temporary fire stations have been set up across Bhubaneshwar, and 16 teams of police are patrolling the city to ensure public safety.
Two people were shot dead in an alleged incident of firing reported in Greater Noida, the police said, adding that four teams have been formed to arrest the accused.
