Following the two suicides in a month at the Indian Institute of Technology here, an inquiry committee has been formed to look into such incidents, the IIT-Madras said on Wednesday.

Indian Institute of Technology Madras Director Kamakotti on Wednesday claimed that the reduced socialisation during the COVID pandemic is the main reason for the suicide incidents which were reported on the campus.
"A standing Institute Internal Inquiry Committee, including elected student representatives, which has been recently constituted will look into such incidents," the IIT said in an official statement.
The deceased was identified as Vaipu Pushpak Sree Sai native of Andhra Pradesh. He was found hanging in his Alakananda hostel room on the IIT-Madras campus.
