The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday stated that the depression, a remnant of Cyclonic Storm Fengal over the north coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, moved west-northwestward at a speed of 7 km/h during the past six hours and was centred at 11:30 pm on December 1 (Sunday).
Ahead of the Karthigai Deepam festival scheduled to be celebrated on December 13, the Arulmigu Arunachaleswarar temple in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvannamalai were decorated and lit with lights.
The authorities have advised the public to not visit beaches in Puducherry as well as in Tamil Nadu's Chennai, including Marina Beach, Pattinapakkam and Edward Elliot Beach. The tourist spots in Puducherry have been closed as a precautionary measure, owing to the impending cyclone Fengal<

Seven teams of 4 Battalion NDRF, including 2 canines (30 rescuers per team), have been mobilised in wake of heavy to very heavy rainfall activity predicted by the Regional Metrological Centre in some parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry from 26th November to 28th November.
The release said that NDRF teams are self-contained and equipped with all equipment for search and rescue operations, appropriate communication equipment and personal protective equipment.
