The economic turmoil in Pakistan has reached alarmingly close to that of Sri Lanka, which had faced a similar situation prior to its default. Pakistan is now standing at the same juncture. Merely a few days or weeks at the most are left for the imminent disaster if some kind of a miracle doe
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered an inquiry into the power outage in Pakistan that took place at around 7:34 am on Monday and left many cities including Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Islamabad without electricity, Geo TV reported.
In a video message, Imran Khan said, "I will start the protest from tomorrow (Tuesday) in Lahore and then will go to Pindi on Wednesday, Faislabad, Multan against the appointment of corrupt Mohsin Naqvi as Punjab's caretaker CM."
During the incident, Head Constable Imran Zaman, 40, and another person, 20-year-old Wajid Kaleem, were also injured. Both the injured were then taken to Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi along with the girl's body, the SSP said.
The remarks by Sharif came after Imran Khan in a recent interview claimed that former army chief General (R) Qamar Javed Bajwa had "sent two brigadiers" in the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) in the Panama Papers case that ultimately led to the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif.
The joint investigation team was reconstituted after four members of the team levelled allegations against the team's head Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar.
"There are reports of multiple outages from different parts of the city. We are investigating the issue and will keep this space posted," said Imran Rana, Spokesperson, K-Electric in a Twitter post.
Khan said the SKMT board of directors had informed him about investing the funds worth USD 3 million in a private housing project. He, however, clarified that the amount was later returned to the trust.
