Former First Lady of Pakistan Bushra Bibi moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday for a medical examination in Shaukat Khanum hospital after allegations that she is being given poisonous substances at the Bani Gala sub-jail.
Addressing the media in Quetta, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub, said on Sunday that the Sharif family was "afraid" of prisoner number 804, referring to Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan by his prisoner number.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Omar Ayub Khan on Friday confirmed that his party will launch a nationwide protest movement against the alleged election rigging in the February 8 general elections for "restoration of the Constitution and democracy" in the country, Geo News reported.
"My father is very hopeful and seeing justice being done in the country," the PTI leader said, adding that the bravery showed by six judges of the IHC boosted the courage of her father -- who alongside the party founder Imran Khan is facing 10-year jail term in the cypher case.
Former First Lady Bushra Bibi was granted permission to visit the Adiala Jail to meet with PTI founder and former PM Imran Khan on the occasion of Eid.
Rawalpindi Police on Wednesday took five Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists into custody for protesting and recording videos outside the main gate of Adiala jail on Eid ul Fitr's first day, The News International reported.
The couple was previously convicted and sentenced to seven years in prison, along with a fine of PKR0.5 million each, for an unlawful marriage application filed by Bushra's former husband, Khawar Maneka.
The monthly bill of security provisions for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan at Adiala Jail are whopping over Rs 1.2 million, reported The Express Tribune, citing a report submitted by the jail superintendent to the Lahore High Court (LHC).
The party's core committee urged the immediate intervention of the court in this matter, emphasising the importance of Dr Asim being allowed to conduct Khan's medical check-up.
As rifts widen within the ranks of the PTI, its jailed leader and former PM Imran Khan said, "Some of our people are in touch with his opponent, and they wanted to dismantle the PTI party."
Tarar's statement came after Imran Khan alleged that the senior military leadership "implicated" him and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana case "in an attempt to stifle my spirits".
