On Saturday, the Shangla administration declared Section 144, imposing a ban on gatherings for a month. However, the PTI activists held a protest against the arrest of the party's chairman Imran Khan, forcing the administration to start a crackdown on them for violating the ban.
Following the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, the authorities have imposed section 144 for seven days in several districts of Punjab, reported ARY News.

In a handout issued after its emergency core committee meeting, PTI said it held discussions over the future plan of action and legal measures to secure former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's release.
The Accountability Court No.1 Islamabad Judge Muhammad Bashir heard the case and extended the interim bail till August 10 as final arguments were not given in the case due to Khan’s arrest in the Toshakhana case today.

Following his arrest and being sentenced to three years in prison, a video message of the former prime minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has surfaced on social media in which he said that his arrest was expected.
He said, "PTI will use its right to challenge the decision by knocking on the doors of the higher judiciary." He further said, "We will defend Imran Khan with all legal means, he said, while further adding that we will opt for all the legal ways to defend him."
