Eleven people lost their lives after a trolley carrying devotees overturned during a Durga idol immersion in Jamli village of Khandwa district. The bodies of all eleven people have been recovered and are sent for post-mortem, Khandwa Collector Rishav Gupta said.
"The accidents that occurred during the immersion of Durga in the villages of Jamli in Khargone and the Ingoria police station area near Ujjain are extremely tragic. I express my condolences to the bereaved families", the Chief Minister posted on X.

According to the officials, the incident occurred during the immersion of an idol in the river. A tractor-trolley carrying 12 devotees fell into the river while crossing a bridge.

BJP leader CT Ravi visited HIMES Hospital in Hassan a day after nine people were killed and 22 injured in a Ganesh immersion accident. He said the ₹5 lakh compensation announced was inadequate and urged the Karnataka government to raise it to Rs 50 lakh.
