Amid heavy and continuous rainfall and reports of land slides in a few areas of the Nilgiri district in Tamil Nadu, the Niligiri district administrator declared holidays in schools on Friday.
The regional meteorologist has predicted that very heavy rainfall can be recorded from 115mm to 204 mm at six places in the state which include Sehore, Rajgarh, Agar Malwa, Sheopur Kalan and Morena.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department forecast moderate to intense spells of rain very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Mumbai, Sindhudurg and Ghat areas of Pune today.
The water level in Madhuban Dam increased due to heavy rains in Valsad on Saturday, the Disaster Management Authority said. IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the district on Sunday.
The Andheri Subway was affected by the intense rain, and several areas, including the vicinity of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, were inundated.
The Mumbai civic authority requested that the residents avoid going out unless necessary, as the Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for the city, predicting heavy to very heavy rain on Saturday.
