Authorities have declared a holiday for schools and colleges in nine districts, including Villupuram, Tiruvallur, Cuddalore, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Ramanathapuram, and Trichy, amid heavy rains in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.
Schools and colleges will remain closed in the Tiruchirappalli district of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday in view of the continuous rainfall in the region, the district administration said.

Seven teams of 4 Battalion NDRF, including 2 canines (30 rescuers per team), have been mobilised in wake of heavy to very heavy rainfall activity predicted by the Regional Metrological Centre in some parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry from 26th November to 28th November.
The release said that NDRF teams are self-contained and equipped with all equipment for search and rescue operations, appropriate communication equipment and personal protective equipment.
Light to moderate rain is predicted over the next 3-4 days in Odisha, officials with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Bhubaneswar said on Sunday.
"The temperatures in north-west India are normal. The temperatures will remain normal for the next few days. The fog has decreased significantly," Kumar told ANI on Sunday.
The urban areas in Thoothukudi such as Rajagopal Nagar, Pushpa Nagar, Raju Nagar, Postal Telegram Colony and other parts of the city have been experiencing waterlogging.
Schools will remain closed in Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi and Tiruvarur districts today, announced the concerned district collectors.
