In Punjab's Kapurthala city, several cases of women involved in the drug trade have come to the fore. With husbands in prison, their wives have stepped into the drug trafficking, continuing the illicit narcotics trade in the city.
Illicit market value of these narcotics drugs and psychotropic substances has been reported to be more than Rs 250 crores which have been seized under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985, the DRI said.
