The Assam Excise department carried out an operation in the Tamulpur district on Sunday and unearthed a huge racket of illicit liquor smuggling from neighbouring countries and states to Assam.
He said all the police officers should be alert to avoid any untoward incidents after exit polls come out on June 1 (last day of polling) until the results are declared on June 4.
A Static Surveillance Team (SST) is a group of police personnel and a magistrate that monitors activity at check posts in an Assembly Constituency during elections. SSTs are responsible for watching for the movement of: illicit liquor, bribes, large amounts of cash, arms and ammunition.
