Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhopal (IISER Bhopal) researchers have developed an effective photocatalyst, a substance that absorbs a wide range of solar energy and light to quicken chemical processes in laboratories and industries.

Besides, the institute has acquired top position among all the IISERs in the country. Last year, the institute got tenth rank in the academic category and 13th rank in the overcall category.
These crystals were developed in IISER Bhopal, and the understanding of the response of these crystals to mechanical deformation was done in collaboration with researchers from the University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology.
