A 44-year-old woman was arrested at Indira Gandhi International Airport for allegedly smuggling gold worth Rs 50 lakh from Dubai to Delhi by concealing it in her rectum, Delhi Customs officials said.
"A male passenger (Indian) arriving from Riyadh was intercepted at Delhi airport by Customs officials on December 15. X-ray scans revealed two gold bars of 300 g worth Rs 22.2L cleverly concealed inside an adaptor," said Customs.

This year, the Delhi Police IGI Airport Unit broke various fake passport syndicates operating across India. As of now, 19 foreign nationals, including 12 Bangladeshi nationals, and 23 agents, including one Bangladeshi national, have been arrested for flying on fake passports or visas.
According to customs officials, the airport security recovered 13 yellow metal pieces of gold weighing nearly 999 grams. The estimated value of the foreign-origin gold is worth Rs 72.72 lakhs, approximately, officials added. The authorities informed that further investigation was underway.
