In a joint search operation with the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, security forces on Thursday recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition dropped here through a quadcopter flown from across the Line of Control, officials said.
According to Jammu and Kashmir Police, the encounter broke out after the Indian Army and other security forces launched a joint operation in the Budhal area of Rajouri district.
During the operation, a huge cache of arms, ammunition and currencies, both Indian and Pakistani, was recovered by the Indian Army and J&K Police from the terrorists who tried to infiltrate.
"A huge cache of arms and ammunition including 5 AK Rifles, 7 Pistols, 4 Hand Grenades and other incriminating material has been recovered," they added.
The Odisha police on Wednesday recovered a huge cache of arms, which includes more than 165 weapons, gunpowder, and other armaments, from Odisha's Similipal, officials said.
"In a case registered at Sarai Akeel police station, accused Abdul Kavi (aide of late mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed) was taken on police remand for 36 hours," Brijesh Kumar Srivastava, Superintendent of Police (SP) said.
5 shotguns, 5 improvised local grenades, and three cartons of shotgun ammunition were recovered during the check. Three persons were apprehended, said officials.
Assam police on Wednesday recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Assam's Udalguri district, said Udalgiri's Superintendent of Police Supriya Das.
