The battle in the Hubli-Dharwad Central constituency in the upcoming Karnataka assembly elections is set to get more interesting as a 'guru-shishya' fight between two prominent Lingayat leaders has raised election fever in the seat.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Mahesh Tenjinakai who is contesting for the Hubli-Dharwad Central Assembly constituency in Karnataka polls, on Thursday will file his nomination for the elections.
Congress leader Jagadish Shettar filed his nomination from the Hubli-Dharwad-Central Assembly constituency on Wednesday for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly Elections.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Mahesh Tenginkai who has been fielded by the saffron party against the turncoat Jagadish Shettar in the upcoming polls, on Tuesday said that BJP wanted the new generation to enter politics.
During his visit Nadda will be visiting Hubli and Shiggaon (Haveri) and participate in several public programmes and organisational meetings including visiting some key mutts of Hubli district, an official statement from the party said.
"It is unfortunate that he (Jagadish Shettar) is going to resign today. He was a senior leader, former CM, speaker, party president and minister also. However, when a party has decided that some seniors have to give some way to the younger generation," CM Bommai said.
Shettar, a six-time MLA from the constituency who was reportedly advised by the party to stand down and not seek a fresh term as MLA from the Hubli-Dharwad Central segment, following which his followers expressed their anguish against the party's high command.
Amid deadlock with the party over the ticket allocation, former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP leader Jagdish Shettar on Saturday said that he would take a further decision after meeting with state election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Jagadish Shetter on Saturday extended his ultimatum to the party till this evening and said that he is still hopeful of getting the ticket from Hubli-Dharwad Central segment.
