Some incoming sirens were sound in the southernmost city of Israel, Eilat, on Monday as Israel and Hamas continue to remain in a deadlock, with the war entering its 61st day on Wednesday, The Times of Israel reported.
"The USS Carney has been involved in multiple engagements in the Red Sea involving Houthi attacks on commercial vessels today. In at least two circumstances, the Carney successfully shot down [unmanned aerial vehicles] headed in its direction," the official said.

The ship, partially owned by Israeli businessman Rami Ungar, has no Israeli nationals aboard and was travelling from Turkey to India. Its 25 crew members are being held in Yemen.
Japan has said that it is "directly approaching" Houthi rebels, who recently hijacked an international cargo shop in the Red Sea, according to Al Jazeera.
Condemning the hijack, it said, "This is another act of Iranian terrorism and constitutes a leap forward in Iran's aggression against the citizens of the free world, with international consequences regarding the security of the global shipping lanes."
In a historic first, the Arrow air defence system successfully intercepted a surface-to-surface missile launched from the "Red Sea area" towards Israel during the ongoing conflict with Hamas, The Times of Israel reported on Tuesday.
