"Quad will continue to make efforts towards global good, welfare of the people, prosperity and peace," Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in the opening remarks of the Quad meeting held on the sidelines of a Group of Seven Summit (G-7) meeting in the Japanese city of Hiroshima.
This is the first meeting between the two leaders since the Russia-Ukraine conflict that began last year on February 24. "India and I will do whatever we can for the resolution of conflict," said PM Modi.
Japan's advanced technology and love for robots are not unheard of; the same was seen at the International Media Centre as Robot was saying "Namaste to India".
This is the first time the two leaders are meeting in person since the beginning of the Russian-Ukraine conflict in February last year. PM Modi has spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin as well as President Zelenskyy a number of times.
"Ever growing India, Germany ties! PM @narendramodi met @Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz of Germany at the Hiroshima @G7 Summit," Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Official Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted on Saturday.
At Hiroshima, the "symbol of peace", the G7 members have pledged to mobilize all their policy instruments and, together with Ukraine, make every effort to bring a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine as soon as possible.
The meeting between the two leaders comes ahead of the third in-person summit of leaders of the Quad summit later today. PM Modi is attending the G7 Summit under the Japanese Presidency at the invitation of PM Fumio Kishida.
Sullivan, while addressing the media briefing also said that the Hiroshima summit would be a high watermark for G7 and that it will demonstrate real unity among the key democracies on a range of critical issues.
