Various Hindu temples have recently been vandalized in Australia. India condemned the vandalization of Hindu temples in Australia and said that the matter has been raised with the Australian government in Canberra and asked for expeditious investigation against the perpetrators.
In a video that went viral on social media earlier, the DMK leader could be heard saying that he demolished three 100-year-old Hindu temples built in his constituency.
"The High Commission of India strongly condemns the deeply disturbing incidents of vandalisation, including of three Hindu temples in Melbourne in recent weeks," read a release issued by the Indian High Commission in Canberra, Australia.
While talking with ANI, Barry O'Farrell said, "I am gravely concerned by the mindless vandalism of Hindu temples in Victoria. Australia does not tolerate hate speech or violence and Australian authorities are investigating."
"We have been shocked at the vandalism of two Hindu temples in Melbourne, & Australian authorities are investigating. Our strong support for freedom of expression does not include hate speech or violence @DrSJaishankar @MEAIndia," O'Farrell tweeted on Friday.
