Expressing grief over the massive landslides and cloudbursts in Himachal Pradesh, Singh said, “The Prime Minister should declare Himachal Pradesh a disaster-hit state and should start restoration work here.”
Western Air Command, IAF on Tuesday recommenced its relief operations in Himachal Pradesh where many areas are havocked by heavy rains. The IAF rescued 150 citizens from various rain-affected areas of the state.
Medical camps have also been established in the district, the DPRO said adding that more water will be released from Pong Dam on Tuesday night which will affect about 17 villages of the region.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday informed that over 50 people have lost their lives within the past 24 hours due to landslides and continuous rainfall in the area. He also expressed concerns that over 20 people are feared to be trapped under debris.
"Himachal Pradesh University cancels all the ongoing examinations of Post Graduate classes including B. Ed. exams scheduled on August 14 only, in view of heavy rainfall in the state," it said.
IMD Shimla issued the forecast at 3:00 PM today and said, "In the next 24 hours, there is a possibility of moderate rain in Bilaspur, Chamba, Hamirpur, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur, Solan, Una, Kinnaur, Lahaul, Spiti and heavy to very heavy rain at one or two places."
