Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said that the state government will soon table a Bill to ban the practice of polygamy in the upcoming assembly session.
He announced to provide rupees one lakh each to the affected families and also directed to channelize the Thunag rivulet so as to avoid such type of mishaps.

The apple market in Bhatakufar, Shimla, was struck by a landslide on Wednesday, posing a significant threat to the local population, traders, laborers, and farmers. This unfortunate event has caused problems and instilled fear among the affected individuals.
"So far the total number of human losses since June 24 number is 88, and the total number of people missing is 16 (Road Accident-5, Drowning-6, Flash Flood-2, Landslide-02, Slippage-01)," HSDMA said.
