CM Sukhu met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Tuesday and apprised him that the state had suffered damages amounting to around Rs 1000 crore, even as the monsoon had just begun.
Upon his visit to Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday, CM Sukhu sought support for the repair and reconstruction of damaged roads. He also urged the inclusion of a few roads under the PM Gati Shakti Yojana.
Referring to viral social media posts, Singh stated that there have been increasing complaints on social media regarding the injustice being done to the state and its people through four-lane widening projects by the NHAI.
He informed that precious lives had been lost and key infrastructure including roads, bridges, buildings, irrigation schemes, water supply schemes and electricity supply systems had been severely affected during this disaster.
The heavy rains during the monsoon season has affected life and property in parts of Himachal Pradesh and has claimed 106 lives between June 20 and July 15, 2025, according to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA).
