The foundation stone for the construction of educational institutions has been laid in Doti district of Nepal under India's High Impact Community Development Project in Nepal.
Earlier this year, Nepal and India signed an agreement during the visit of EAM S Jaishankar to Nepal allowing the Indian Embassy to invest up to Rs 200 million in projects in Nepal.
The Indian Embassy in Nepal and the Nepal government's Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, signed a Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) for undertaking three High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal.
As per the embassy, the school is being built with the Government of India's financial assistance at a tendered cost of NRs 3.79 crore (286k USD) under 'Nepal-India Development Cooperation'.
Commemorating the two decades of its successful implementation on Tuesday, the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu formally handed over the Mangaladevi Birthing (Maternity) Centre at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Kathmandu to the Hospital representatives.
The project was jointly handed over by Finance Nepal's Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat, Nepal's Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Anita Devi and Ambassador of India to Nepal Naveen Srivastava.
During his visit, the Ambassador inaugurated and handed over to local District authorities three Community Development Projects: one Campus Building and two School Buildings built with financial assistance from the Government of India at a total cost of Nepalese Rupee (NRs) 90.80 million.
Under an agreement between India and Nepal, these projects were taken up as High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) which will help the students in the area by providing them with quality educational infrastructure and will create a suitable environment for good quality education
