According to doctors at a cancer treatment facility in Herat Province, Western Afghanistan observes a 30 per cent increase in the number of patients seeking cancer treatment, Khaama Press reported.
In a separate report, UNODC said that Afghanistan is home to an estimated 3.5 million drug users, which account for nearly 10 per cent of the total population.
More than 180 Afghan prisoners have been transferred to Afghanistan by Iran on Wednesday in Herat province, Khaama Press reported citing a statement released by the Taliban Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan.
The cancer centre in Herat said that over 70 per cent of patients suffering from breast cancer have lost their lives because they have not seen doctors in time.
At least 534 Afghan refugees visited Afghanistan through Islam Qala in Western Herat Province, according to the Taliban-led Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR).
Head of the kitchen, Manizha Sadat, said: "Women are banned from working out of the house, we planned to be at home and have activities, so we started making Afghan traditional food."
In the face of Taliban prohibitions on employment, a group of Afghan women and girls in the province of Herat have established a kitchen and started a catering business to support themselves, TOLOnews reported.
Mohammad Rafiq Shirzai, an Official of the regional hospital in Herat, said that 220 injured people were taken to the regional hospital for treatment during the three days of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Afghan officials said that the curbs have been brought in place because of gender mixing or because women allegedly are not wearing the hijab. So far, the ban is applicable to restaurants with green spaces in the Herat province only.
"Our operation is underway and hundreds of acres of land has been cleared of poppy in different districts," said Hayatullah Rouhani, head of the counter narcotics department of Herat, as quoted by TOLO News.
