The 'Hemkund Sahib' Yatra is all set to begin on May 25. The first batch of devotees were flagged off from Rishikesh on Wednesday in the presence of Uttarakhand Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh.
Narinder Jit Singh Bindra, Chairman of the Hemkund Sahib Management Trust, met the governor, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) on Thursday and invited him for the Shri Hemkund Sahib Yatra.
A team of the Army will conduct a special operation to clear the snow-clogged route leading to Gurdwara Sri Hemkund Sahib in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, officials said on Monday.
Following a prolonged wait, Chamoli district witnessed the onset of snowfall on Wednesday. Significant snowfall was reported in key locations such as Badrinath Dham, Hemkund Sahib, Valley of Flowers, Rudranath, Niti Valley, and Mana Valley. Even Hanumanchatti saw a blanket of snow.
