Heavy rainfall in Darjeeling and surrounding areas caused landslides, resulting in the collapse of a bridge, seven deaths, two missing, and the closure of several roads.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed concern over the heavy rainfall and landslides in Darjeeling and surrounding areas, saying authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
"The loss of lives and damage caused by heavy rains in Nepal is distressing. We stand with the people and Government of Nepal in this difficult time. As a friendly neighbour and first responder, India remains committed to providing any assistance that may be required," PM Modi wrote on X.
