Hundreds of trucks, RVs and other vehicles were seen leaving the festival site after the heavy rains trapped tens of thousands of people in the makeshift city and surrounded them with ankle-deep mud too thick to drive in.
These dewatering trucks with high-capacity suction pumps have been brought in by the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) to deal with any contingency like the one recently, where the area in and around the Raj Ghat and ITPO were submerged after heavy rains.
On Monday, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) issued a yellow alert for typhoon and heavy rains, the third highest in its four-tier warning system.
The Indian Meteorological Department issued an Orange alert on Monday in Telangana predicting light to moderate rains in most places during the next three days.
"A rescue team of police and fire officials rescued 8 youths who were caught in Penna river flood surge. The youths had got trapped after the water level of the river started increasing due to the heavy rains," said the official.
Thousands of people remain trapped on site after heavy rains inundated the area and created thick, ankle-deep mud that sticks to campers’ shoes and vehicle tires.
The restoration has started on the Kalka-Shimla heritage railway line in Summer Hill which was damaged on August 14th due to floods, landslides and heavy rainfall.
