As heavy rains continued to lash parts of Northeast India, the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Fire Service launched extensive rescue operations in flood-affected areas, rescuing over 1,500 people across various districts.
Atleast 10 people have died in Assam due to drowning, with two more people, including a child drowning in Assam's Cachar and Sribhumi district on Sunday.
According to officials, due to heavy outbursts of rainfall, six buildings and one Assam-type house in Chandmary and Bazar areas in Mizoram's Lawngtlai district were affected on Saturday evening. The district administration has rescued the people from the debris.
