Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) on Sunday issued a communication to its member lawyers that no adverse orders will be passed in the event of lawyers unable to present themselves before the court on Monday due to heavy rainfall in the national capital.
"All Government and Private Schools (including Play schools etc.) falling in Gurugram district are hereby directed to remain closed tomorrow i.e. on the 10th of July in the larger public interest and for the safety & security of the students," said the Gurugram district administration
Expressing anguish over the loss of lives in Himachal Pradesh due to heavy rains, and landslides, state Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur on Sunday appealed to the Centre to provide all possible assistance to the persons, affected due to inclement weather.
The Delhi government issued a flood warning amid heavy rains in North India and the Haryana government released more than one lakh cusecs of water into the Yamuna River from the HathniKund Barrage in Yamunanagar.
Major cities in north India witnessed loss of life and property, disruption in transport and power as heavy rainfall lashed parts of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh, on Sunday, leading to waterlogging, flash floods, and landslides.
"Apart from this, one day holiday has been declared in all other schools/colleges, Anganwadi centres from class 01 to class 12 of the district," an officials statement said.
As heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh continued to batter almost all districts, triggering landslides and flash floods at various regions, the Panchvaktra bridge in Mandi collapsed, officials said.
Heavy rains in the State have led to overflowing rivers and locals have alleged that concerned authorities did not construct a culvert or put pripes on the side of the road to drain the water causing the collapse of the Mananthavady-Walayar road that was nearing its completion.
In the wake of the continuous spell of heavy rain in north India and adjoining areas, schools in Chandigarh have been closed for the next two days, officials said on Sunday.
