Following heavy monsoon rains, 13 people died in separate incidents of a wall collapse in Pakistan's capital and Rawalpindi on Wednesday, reported Geo News.
"Moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms very likely to occur at most places in the districts of Chamba, Kangra. There is the possibility of very heavy rainfall in isolated places," IMD said.
The authorities closed all government and private schools in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district for the students on Wednesday in view of the heavy rainfall.
As heavy rainfall and cloudbursts hit Uttarakhand, a vehicle and a bridge got washed away in Nachti drain on the Lipulekh border of border tehsil Dharchula of Pithoragarh district, breaking the connection of Om Parvat Kalapani with Gunji.
As per SDRF officials, nine days of constant rain in Uttarakhand's hilly and plain regions caused the rivers' water levels to rise, subsequently, the SDRF personnel have been instructed to maintain a high degree of alertness.
“The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Pune District with heavy rainfall in ghat areas of the northern taluka of the district, especially for July 19 night,” an IMD official said.
Following heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand on Monday, the water level of River Alaknanda swelled up significantly as the state is battered with torrential rains and the release of water from barrages resulting in floods.
"A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours. Under its influence, widespread rains and heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Odisha from 19 to 22 July," HR Biswas, Director of IMD, Bhubaneswar said.
Speaking to ANI, IMD Bhopal Meteorologist, S N Sahu said, “Madhya Pradesh has recorded 336.5 mm rainfall till yesterday which is 16 per cent more. And in the next 24 hours, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall at some districts in Bhopal, Indore and Ujjain division.”
